We spent ten days of “Work-Life-Balance” in Captains Place this summer, which was probably one of the best places we could have been. Captains Place` coziness is unbeatable and Eugene, the Captain, makes it even cozier! Eugene is a very nice person who gives you any support you need plus he respects your privacy as well. Thank you Eugene, you were a great host!
The ship on the other hand was beautiful with an authentic neighborhood leading to a perfect atmosphere for working, hanging out and having fun as you need it. Everything was clean, charming and just cool. Lots of spirit and inspiration. The Wi-Fi was great and the TV provided us awesome games of the World-Championship in summer 2014.

There was nothing to complain at all.
We´re talking about being back as soon as possible! And we will for sure!!

We have just arrived back home from a wonderfull 4-night stay at Captains Place in the midle of February.
We was more than normally satisfied with our stay, the boat is excellent and the small concern we had, wether there was enough hot water for 4 adults bathing, was no issue what so ever, there were more than enough. infact everything is what you see at the pictures….and then some, because Eugène himself are there to welcome you, and you really feel welcome as he shows you around this fantastic houseboat, presenting you for a fully equipt appartment with all nessecaries, even coffee and The are included.
We will defendly come back the next time Amsterdam is on our scheldue.

Captains Place is a wonderful Place to stay, if you want to have a relaxing stay in Amsterdam. We are a danish family consisting of 5 persons and stayed 5 days i juli 2012. We enjoyed the comfortable and nice boat, where all that you need is available. We had a morning run and a swim every morning, and on our rented bikes we were quickly in the center of Amsterdam. The Captain is a very nice host, and we can recommend a trip in his motorboat through the harbour and canals, he knows almost all the boats and buildings and can tell a lot of stories about them. We will love to come back!

Another wonderful stay on Captain’s Place!

We stayed for a second time on Captain’s Place this February for my 40th birthday, and we were just as impressed as when we stayed there for New Years 3 years ago. Eugene was a friendly and helpful (yet unobtrusive) host who welcomed us and gave us all the info we needed. After that he was there if we needed him, but allowed us our privacy for the weekend.

Captain’s Place is situated on Java Island right by Barcelona Square and is an ideal base for exploring Amsterdam. Despite the travel connections being excellent (it’s 10 minutes to Centraal Station on the bus and 15 minutes to Leidseplein by tram), the mooring and surrounding area are quiet and peaceful, and the boat itself very comfortable (particularly the excellent ‘patio’ area which is a perfect place to chill). It’s really nice to have such a relaxing base to return to after a hectic day in the city centre.

The amenities are excellent: two good bathrooms with hot, powerful showers; comfortable beds; full cooking facilities and a large fridge. There’s a nice bar just down the quai, a couple of very good restaurants on the island, a superb bakery just round the corner (try the croissants), and two supermarkets just across the bridge (about 15 mins walk).

In short, I can’t recommend Captain’s Place highly enough. If you are a couple you may want to pick one of the smaller boats located in the city centre, but as one of the very few boats that sleeps up to six people, Captain’s Place really is hard to beat for a group of friends or a family.

    We’ll be back…
